Today we have four players hoping they've got what it takes to be called the ultimate Brain Buster. Now, we'll start with Mega Memory, before we move into our specialist subject rounds, where our players can choose from six of our options. They'll hope to stay in this game and avoid elimination. So, let's meet our players now. Firstly, Jordan, welcome to the show. - Thank you. - Right into your rugby. - Yep. - What position are we? - I'm a hooker. - Bit tall for a hooker, aren't we? - I've gotta try and throw straight, though. - Nice. - Yeah. - Great throw. - Yeah. - That's what I like to hear, Jordan. - Great to have you on the show. Max, right into your sport as well. - Yep. Love sport so much. Whatever sport you give me, I'll probably really enjoy and just love it. - Love the attitude, Max. - Just treat Brain Busters like the next sport, then, all right? - Yep, hopefully. - All right, good man. Anna, great having you here on the show. Another sportswoman as well. Right into your skiing. - Yeah, I love skiing, and I go with my family, and my cousins come up too, and it's great. - So, are we heading down those black diamonds yet? - Yeah. Very tricky. Nice work, Anna. And Skyla, great to have you on the show as well. - You're into marching. - Yeah. - How did you get into that? One of my cousins came around and said that they were gonna try it, - and then me and my sister have been doing it since. - Awesome stuff. - What's the best part about it? - Travelling. - Of course it is. Skyler, great to have you here. Great to have all four of you here. So let's not waste any time and get straight into our first round of the day. It's Mega Memory. 90 seconds on the clock for Mega Memory. Good luck to all of our players. Your time starts now. In which country would you search for the Loch Ness Monster? - Max. - Scotland. Which Taylor Swift song came first ` Blank Space or The Man? - Jordan. - Blank Space. Purex, Sorbent and Cottonsoft are all brands of what? - Anna. - Toilet paper. And that is time up. Great round of Mega Memory. Thank you all so much for playing. Let's take a look now at that leader board. Max leads early with a very impressive 70 points. Jordan has 30 points. Anna has 30 points. And Skyla is on zero points. So now we move into our specialist subject grounds, and starting us off today, we have Skyla. - So, what would you be playing, Skyla? - Spellbinder. Thank you very much. Let's play Spellbinder. Skyler, please step forward. (SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC) - They just didn't give you a chance to buzz in, did they, Skyla? - No. Time to make up for it here, though. Let's get into Spellbinder now. 20 points for each word you spell correctly. Best of luck. Here comes your first word. Incline. Correct. Shingle Well done. Canoeing. Awesome job, Skyla. Tornado. Not wasting any time spelling these words. Need an I before the N, sorry, Skyla. Still a few right there, so good start for your specialist subject round. Thank you very much for playing Spellbinder. Skyla now has the lead with 80 points. Max is on 70 points. Jordan has 30 points. And Anna has 30 points. So let's move on to our second player now for their specialist subject round. - That player is Jordan. So what would you be playing? - Blueprinter. Thank you very much, Jordan. Let's play Blueprinter. Jordan, please step forward. (SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC) Also right into your mountain biking, Jordan. Where do you like to do that? - The Adventure Park. - Oh, nice place to go. All right, let's focus on our Blueprinter now. You're gonna have 30 seconds to have a look at what our Blueprinter is and then a further 30 seconds to put in your answers. Good luck. And let's see what it is today. It's Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Park. Best of luck. Your time starts now. New Zealand's largest geothermal attraction, Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Park, is filled with sulphur, boiling mud and strangely coloured thermal pools. You'll also be able to spot geysers that spurt hot water up to 20m in the air. Ten seconds left, Jordan. That's time, so hopefully you got those all locked in. You'll now have 30 seconds to put your answers in. That time starts now. Halfway. (BUZZER) Nicely done. Took the time for the last one there, to make sure all the T's were crossed and the I's were dotted. But do we have them all in the right place, Jordan? - I hope so. - Let's find out. That's one. Devil's Cave makes it two. Three. Four. Nicely done. Couldn't continue, sorry. The Sacred Track is incorrect. Inferno Crater also incorrect. But we finish off strong, getting Devil's Ink Pots. Well done, Jordan. Really great stuff there. Thank you very much for playing Blueprinter. Jordan now has the lead with 130 points. Skyla has 80 points. Max is on 70. And Anna is on 30. So just like that, two of our players have already completed their specialist subject rounds, and all four of our players are wondering if they're going to be able to go hang out with Mikey. - Getting closer to that time where our final two contestants will go head-to-head to be today's champion. Let's hope they've been doing some training, because you don't want to miss this beast. No you don't, Mikey. And don't forget, you can play from home as well. Simply head online to Heihei Games. Don't go anywhere. We'll see you a muri i te whakata. * Nau mai, hoki mai, kia ora and welcome back to Brain Busters. Just before the break, we had Skyla and Jordan take on their specialist subject rounds. And coming up next to play is Anna. So what would you like to play, Anna? - Identifier. - Thank you very much. Let's play Identifier. Anna, please step forwards. (SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC) So, for people who don't ski or snowboard, black diamonds are, like, crazy hard, Anna, and so how do you manage to do it? How do I have the confidence to do it? - My dad has been, like, teaching me since I was little. - So he's like my coach, sort of. - And now you're like a pro. - (CHUCKLES) Yeah. Let's say if you're a pro Identifier here on Brain Busters now. Best of luck, Anna. Here comes your first one. An apple a day gives you 20 points here on Brain Busters. Is that the case? Sure is. Nice work, Anna. Hope you can get back on track with this one. And Anna is right. - Think you know your sheep, Anna? - No. - Bit of a guess? - Yeah. - Fingers crossed. Ooh! Aww! Almost had it. Need to swap out for Romney. Slowly, slowly changing them. Do I change? Do I stay? Questions running through Anna's head. But have we finished on the correct order? We have indeed. Well played, Anna. Finally... Yeah, nicely done. Great way to finish there, Anna. Thank you so much for playing Identifier. Jordan manages to hold on to that lead still, with 130 points. Anna moves into second now with one 110 points. Then we have Skyla on 80 points. And Max has 70 points. And we do have just one more player remaining to take on their specialist subject round. That player is Max. So what would you like to play? - Equaliser. - Thank you very much, Max. Let's play Equaliser. Max, please step forward. (SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC) Max, you said you're a huge sports fan. Obviously a big general knowledge fan as well ` 70 points after Mega Memory. - Well done. - Thanks. - Thought you'd get that many points right off the bat? - No. Here we are. First place. Can we get back there, though? - Hopefully. - That's the plan. Let's get into it, Max. Well done, brilliant start here, Max. - Negative 14.4. - Very close. Negative 14.6. Finally, Max... 51 is the correct answer to our final equation there for Equaliser. Great job there, Max. Thank you for playing Equaliser. Excellent way to finish off our specialist subject rounds. So let's take a look now at the leader board. Max reclaims the lead, now sitting on 170 points. Jordan has 130 points. Anna his 110 points. And Skyla has 80 points. So we do now need to unfortunately eliminate our first player today on Brain Busters. Skyla, it's you. If only they let you buzz in on Mega Memory, it could have been different. But you still get to go home with a $100 bank account. So what will you be doing with that money, Skyla? - I'm gonna save it. - Very smart decision indeed. Thanks for coming on the show, Skyla. And congratulations to our three remaining players. For them, it's one step closer to the Brain Buster. - Only three players remain, which means very soon our top two will be flying, racing and climbing their way through the ultimate obstacle course to see who will be crowned as today's Brain Buster champion. And before we can get to that stage, we do have our Brain Teaser in place. Now, all of our players today have gone through their specialist subject rounds, and we are left with two options for our players to choose from. Today those options are Sequencer and Reo Rangatira. So, Jordan, Max and Anna, please select which one you would like to play now. Thank you, everyone, for voting. We'll start with Jordan, who has selected... - Reo Rangatira. - There we go. - Max has voted for... - Sequencer. - And Anna has chosen... Sequencer. There we go. So let's play Sequencer. Anna, currently in that elimination position. Can she catch up, or will Jordan and Max run away with it? Let's find out now. Here comes your first sequence. In which order were these princes born from earliest`? - Jordan. - Prince William, Prince George, Prince Charles. Jordan currently in second place now. Wants to try to catch up to Max with this. But unfortunately has the wrong order. Charles first, then William, followed most recently by Prince George. In which order were these superhero characters first created, from earliest to most recent? - Max. - The Fantastic Four, Batman, the Incredibles. Max already has that lead, but would love some extra points. Needed to swap Batman and the Fantastic Four around. In what order did these events occur, from earliest to most recent? - Jordan. - Um, Lorde releases Royals, Maori Television launches, then Hillary and Norgay Summit Mt Everest. - From the earliest to most recent. - (SIGHS) Jordan knows what's happened there ` unfortunately said the wrong order. Next up ` In what order were these Steven Spielberg movies released? - Max. - Jaws, Jurassic Park, Ready Player One. Max would like to be back on that beautiful 170 points. And he now is In what order were these musical theatre shows first performed, from earliest to most recent? Anna. - The Sound of Music, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast. Anna wants some points as well. Can she get them? Not quite. The Sound of Music first, then Beauty and the Beast, most recently Aladdin. And that is our Brainteaser complete. Thank you very much for playing. Let's take a look now at our final leader board. Max is still in first place with 170 points. Then we have Anna on 80 points and Jordan very, very close behind on 70 points. So, Jordan, unfortunately, I've got to say it, you have been eliminated from Brain Busters. Just missed out on that sequence. Would have made all the difference. But, hey, you still get to go home with a $100 bank account, Jordan. So what will you be putting that money towards? - I'll probably put some of it in savings ` most of it in savings, actually. - Very smart of you, Jordan. Great having you here on the show. And congratulations to Max and Anna. For them it's now on to the Brain Buster. Who out of our top two contestants will be today's Brain Buster champion? Don't move a muscle. We'll be right back. * Welcome back to Brain Busters. We've gone through Mega Memory, our specialist subject rounds, the Brainteaser, and for our final two, it's now time for the Brain Buster! (ACTION MUSIC) - I'm joined here with the final two players, Anna and Max. Well done on making it this far, you two. But I'm sure they're ready to take on the Brain Buster. Here we go. Feet up, and let's get ready to fly. Here we go. Three, two, one, fly! Max and Anna are about to enter the Brain Buster. Max has quite a few points over Anna ` 90 points, to be exact. But who will take out the Brain Buster? A swift landing from the Neurotransmitters, and on to the Molecule Steps. They've seen their codes. Keep them in your heads, you two. Through the Corpus Callosum with no problems, and on to the Hippocampus. (KEYPAD BEEPS) Max succeeds on his side, but how will Anna go? Nailed it! Both players now free to tackle the Parietal Lobe. It's not easy to pull yourself up, but Max does it no worries. In and out of the tunnel now. Anna needs to hustle, because Max is making tracks along the Frontal Lobe. Anna just making her way across now. Look out, Max! Once on the ladder, they need to find the correct number combo to change the lights. If Anna activates her side first, It will be a huge comeback to steal the win from Max. Oh, wow, she's done it! Now in the lead, Anna makes a beeline for the finish! Max is so close. Who's won it, Chris? - Wowee! What a race! Max, I'll get you to come across this way a little bit, and we'll start with you as well. It was close at the top, Max. You took the early lead, then you just got caught on that last wee bit. Gotta be a little bit frustrating, but still, how much fun was that course? - It was so much fun. I really enjoyed it. - Glad to hear. It's been great having you on the show. Second place. Incredible effort. A $100 bank account is all yours, Max, so what are you going to do with that money? I'm probably going to save it for a bungee swing in Queenstown. - Oh, great choice. Get some photos. Let us know how it goes. - I will. Awesome, Max. Anna, amazing. You are trailing, and then you came from what seemed like out of nowhere. What was going through your head when you saw Max racing all through the course? - I was like, 'Oh no!' And then I was like, 'I can do this!' Yeah. Believe in yourself, and you can achieve ` exactly what you've done. One more thing left for you to do, and that is of course taking on Amygdala. Anna, congratulations. You have skied yourself all the way down the slope, and here we are at Amygdala. - How does it feel to be the final? - It's amazing. I can't believe it. It feels unreal. You've done a fantastic job, fought hard in the show today. So, you scored 80 points. Max, who you went up against on the Brain Buster, actually scored 170 points. So he scored a whole lot more points than you. You get to take them away from him. - Is there anything you wanna say to Max? - Sorry, but thanks for your points. (CHUCKLES) Yeah, absolutely. So now you are playing for $250. Best of luck, Anna. Let's get into it. - Is a whale a fish or a mammal? - Mammal. Correct. Humans can use tools because their hands have opposable what? - Fingers? - Close again ` thumbs. - Oh! Canned spaghetti usually comes with what, flavour sauce? - Tomato. - It sure is tomato. Buzz Lightyear's catchphrase is 'to infinity and...' where? - Beyond. 'To infinity and beyond' is what you said, right? Does that have a Ring to it? Sure does. What does the first B stand for and the media company the BBC? - British? - A bit of hesitation as you're saying, that, Anna. British is correct. What Australian bird, beginning with K, shares a name with a brand of cricket and hockey equipment? - Kookaburra. - A big smile on your face. Played a bit of hockey? - Yeah. No way Anna was going to get that one wrong. Who wrote the book Matilda? - Roald Dahl. - Is it Roald Dahl? Yes, it is. Last Amygdala question. Which New Zealand's city's Anglican cathedral was damaged by an earthquake in 2011? - The Christchurch Cathedral. - Which New Zealand City's Anglican Cathedral` - Christchurch. Sure it's Christchurch? - (DING!) - Yeah, you've absolutely nailed that one, Anna. Congratulations. Let's take a look at the board, and you have won $175. Well played, Anna. What are you going to do with that money? - Um, I might buy a turtle, cos we have a pond, so that would be cool. - That is the cutest answer I have heard so far, Anna. That is gonna be awesome. Thank you so much for playing. Congratulations. $175. - Awesome stuff, Anna. Are you happy with that amount? - Yeah. - Yeah, you should be. If you think you can take on the Brain Buster just like our girl Anna, jump online and head to Heihei Games. Thank you so much for joining us today. Until next time, that's it for Brain Busters.
