Max, please step forward. (SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC) So, what got you into archery, Max? - Well, I was reading books about it, and it seemed really fun. - Awesome. Very cool. Now we're here ready to play Identifier. Best of luck. Here comes question number one. Last minute swap out there for Max. Was it the right thing to do? Indeed it was. Well played, Max. Very fast to change those ones around. And that would be why. Again, Max, very speedy on these answers. Correct again. - Took your time with this one, Max. How are we feeling? - Good. Very good now. Can we continue this great points run? Absolutely. Missed out there, I'm afraid, Max. Finally for Identifier,... - There we go, Max. Happy with that? - Yeah. - As you should be. Really impressive stuff there. Thank you so much for taking on Identifier. Max has raced out to 120 points. Ethan has 50 points. Grace is on 20 points. And Priya has 10 points. So now it's time for our second player to take on their specialist subject round. That player is Priya. - What would you like to play? - Spellbinder. Great choice, Priya. Let's play Spellbinder. Priya, please step forward. (SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC) Obviously, the music's incredible, Priya. How's the spelling, though? - Pretty good. - Let's find out now. Best of luck. Here comes your first word. Trial. Nice. Cardinal. Please spell 'radiant'. Well done. Scree. - In a sentence, please. - I ran perilously down the scree slope. Lovely. Dramatist. - In a sentence, please. - A dramatist is someone who writes plays. That is correct. Your next word is 'modification'. Correct. Your final word is... 'fodder'. So close. Just needed another D in there. And that's all that separated you from a perfect score. Still, really awesome job, Priya. Thank you so much for taking on Spellbinder. Priya is now in the lead with 130 points. Max has 120 points. Ethan has 50 points. And Grace is on 20 points. So an impressive start here on a Brain Busters. But all of our players are wondering if they're going to be able to head to the Brain Buster. - We're getting closer to crunch time, where our top two players will take on the Brain Buster. It's about to get real up in here. let 'em know Chris. - Will do, Mikey. And don't forget, you can play from home as well. Simply head online to Heihei Games. Don't go anywhere. And coming out to the front now is Grace. What would you like to play, Grace? - Sequencer. - Great choice. Let's play Sequencer. Grace, please step forward. (SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC) - How are the nerves, Grace? Managing to hold on to them? - Yeah. All good at the moment? Excellent. Let's get into Sequencer now. Best of luck. 20 points for each correct sequence. Here's number one. Order these days on the New Zealand calendar backwards. Well done for our first Sequencer. In which order were these children's toys first released? Had Furbies in the middle. Moved it to the back there at the end. Needed to keep it in the middle, though. In what order were these musical theatre shows first performed on stage, from the earliest to most recent. All very famous, well-known stage productions. Not the order we were after. In which order did these countries first host the FIFA World Cup? Grace hoping that sports knowledge is going to help her with this one. So, so close. Just needed to swap Spain and the United States around. Place these famous fountains in the order in which they were built, from the earliest to most recent. Really want this one to be right, Grace. Need some more points. And there you go. Well played indeed. In which order were these games first released, from earliest to most recent? - Into your video games, Grace? - Not really. Doesn't matter, though, because you have got it right. Grace, really well played there, especially towards the end. Thank you so much for taking on Sequencer. Priya has 130 points. Max has 120 points. Grace is now on 80 points. And Ethan has 50 points. So we have just one more player remaining to take on their specialist subject round. That player is Ethan. What would you like to play? - Equaliser. - Thanks, Ethan. Let's play Equaliser. Ethan, please step forward. (SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC) Maths must be pretty good, Ethan ` always calculating that great cricket average, I'm sure. - Sometimes. - (CHUCKLES) Let's get into Equaliser now. Best of luck. Here comes your first equation. Quick on these ones. Well done. Nice job. Super speedy. Your final equation. Not wasting any time. Awesome job, Ethan. Really well played. Thank you for taking on Equaliser. And that is how we finish our specialist subject rounds in style. Well played, Ethan. Let's take a look now at the leader board. Ethan has hit that one out of the park ` now on 170 points. Priya has 130 points. Max has 120 points. And Grace has 80 points. So unfortunately, we do need to eliminate our first player today on Brain Busters. And it will be you, Grace, I'm sorry to say. A $100 bank account is all yours, though. So what will you be doing with the money? - Probably saving it for holidays. - Oh, nice choice. - Any idea where you want to go? - Maybe somewhere up north. Very cool. Grace, thanks for coming on to the show. And congratulations to our three remaining players. For them, it's one step closer to the Brain Buster. - The odds just got better for our three remaining players. Very soon our top two will be jumping, climbing and speeding through the ultimate obstacle course. - Let's hope they've been doing some training. - I'm sure they have, Mikey. And before we can get to the Brain Buster, we have our Brain Teaser. Now, all of our players today have gone through their specialist subject rounds, and we are left with two options for our players to choose from today. Today those options are Blueprinter or Reo Rangtira. So Ethan, Priya and Max, please select which one you would like to play now. Thank you, everyone, for voting. We'll start with Ethan. He has decided to play Blueprinter. Priya would like to play Reo Rangatira. And Max would like to play Blueprinter. Thank you for your votes. Let's play Blueprinter. Some good points on the show already today. The question is, how many more can we add as we go into our Blueprinter? Now, you'll have 30 seconds to take a look at what it is and then buzz in if you think you know those answers. Good luck. Let's see your Blueprinter. It's the Len Lye Centre. Your time starts now. A hub for experimental film and kinetic art, New Plymouth's Len Lye Centre is a must-see. It houses the collection of Kiwi artist Len Lye within a super cool building, covered in shiny stainless steel, as well as being conjoined with the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery. 10 seconds left. Time's up. All right, buzz in if you think you know. First one, please. This. - Max. - Uh,... the archives. It is indeed. Well done Max. Next one. - Max again. - The projection room. Max on a roll. Well played. Third. - Ethan. - Paper works. Ethan extending his lead. Now... - Ethan. - Large works. Ethan again. And finally... - Max. - Lobby. It is indeed the lobby. Quick game there for the Brainteaser. Well played, everyone. Let's take a look now at the final scores. Ethan now has 250 points. Max has 210 points. Then we have Priya on 130 points. So, Priya, I'm sorry to say you've been eliminated from Brain Busters. They just didn't let you buzz in. Not once for that final round. Still, a great job. A $100 bank account is all yours. What will you be doing with that money? - I think I'm going to buy myself a new cello ` save up for one. - Very flash. Best of luck with the music as well, Priya. - Thanks for coming on the show. - Thank you. And congratulations to Ethan and Max. For them, it's now on to the Brain Buster. - This is where your actions matter the most. Out top two contestants have made it this far, but at the end of the day, there can only be one winner. Who's it gonna be? Don't go anywhere. We'll be right back. * Hoki mai ano. We've gone through Mega Memory, our specialist subject rounds, the Brainteaser, and now it's time for the big one, the Brain Buster! - I'm joined with our final two players, Max and Ethan. Well done, boys, on making it this far. You guys ready for the ultimate obstacle course? Awesome. Let's jump up on our seats and let's get ready to fly. Cool. Here we go. Three, two, one, fly! For Max and Ethan, it all comes down to this. They have gathered 440 combined points, one of our biggest totals ever. But of course, only one will get through to Amygdala, where they can turn all their points into dollars. Especially impressive for Max, who started the day with zero points coming out of Mega Memory. He clawed his way out of the hole and is now competing here in the Brain Buster. And look at him stride through the Corpus Callosum. Both players make it to the Hippocampus to input their codes. Success! It's been pretty even so far, but it's looking like Max has the edge when it comes to the Parietal Lobe. Yep, he's up and into the tunnel just like that. Max is now in control of this one. Ethan's not going to let this one go easily, though. He's advancing through the tunnel. Max is on the Frontal Lobe, still going great. He's just made it to the DNA Molecule Switches, as Ethan closes in. Oh! And there's Max's side of the Brain Buster activated. That didn't take long. This race is all but over now. Max knows it, too. He's taking his time with the Basal Ganglia. Ethan pushes across on to the Frontal Lobe, but Max is our Brain Busters champion. Come on, Ethan. You're doing great, man. Yes, there you go. Now it's just a matter of getting yourself through the Basal Ganglia. Great mahi from both our players today, Chris. - Nice work, Ethan, finishing up there. I'll get you to come across this way as well, Ethan, and we'll start with you. - Awesome job. How much fun was that obstacle course? - Really fun. Good to hear it, Ethan. Hey, very impressive knock, if I may say so myself. A great innings indeed. So you are second place today on Brain Busters, meaning you've got yourself a $100 bank account. What will you be doing with the money? - I'm either gonna put it in my savings or buy a new pair of shoes. - Nice choice, Ethan. Best of luck with the cricket season coming up as well. - Thank you. - Max, congratulations. You've taken out the Brain Buster. You literally put your body on the line as well through many parts of that course, throwing yourself at it. Well done. How was it for you? - It was really fun. - You could see that as well. You've done well, Max. One thing left to do, and that is of course taking on Amygdala. Max, if we were playing archery, I think it's fair to say you've hit the bullseye. Well done on making it to Amygdala. How does it feel to be here? - It's good, cos I didn't think I'd make it past the first round. - Well, exceeded expectations. You're here in the final round ` playing for some serious money, as well. You scored 210 points. Ethan also did a fantastic job, scoring 230 points. We combine those totals together, and you're playing for a whopping $440. - Whoo! A lot of money. - Yeah. Let's see how much we can win. Good luck, Max. Which green movie monster is sent on a mission by Lord Farquaad? - Shrek. - Correct. William Shakespeare was born in and lived in which country? - England. - Well done. In the Coast to Coast, what are the three activities required to complete the course? - Swimming, running, biking? - Had two out of three. Run, bike and kayak was the third. Which country is home to the noodle dish called chow mein? - Vietnam. - China. Cheddar is a type of what? - Cheese. - Correct. Yeah. It's also the name of the village it originated from. Which is closest to the Earth's surface ` the stratosphere or the troposphere? - Troposphere? - Is this a guess, or you know it? - It's a guess. I have no clue. Stratosphere or the troposphere? You are correct. Which animal is the logo of the Ford Mustang? - It's a... Leopard? I don't know. - Leopard locked in. Not a leopard, sorry, Max. The correct answer is a horse. - Oh. How many touches are allowed before returning a volleyball? - One. No. Three. - Definitely three? - I don't know. Maybe three. - Need to lock in an answer, please, Max. - Three. Said one originally. Moved to three, and we locked at it that. And that is the correct answer. Lucky. - According to the nursery rhyme, Mary had a little what? - Lamb. - Not gonna change this one. - (CHUCKLES) - You sure? - It's a lamb. Our final Amygdala question. - You think Mary had a little lamb. - She did. She took it to school. (DING!) That is correct. Well done, Max! Awesome stuff. Thank you very much for playing. Let's take a look. $264 is all yours, Max. Really well played there. A little bit of doubt, but we got through it in the end. What are you gonna do with the money? - Well, I have no impulse control, so I'm probably going to spend it on the first thing I see. - (LAUGHS) I like your honesty, Max. Thank you so much for playing, once again. $264. - Whoo-hoo! Well done, Max. You glad that Mary took the lamb to school? Nice stuff, man. If you think you can take on the Brain Buster just like our boy Max, jump online and head to Heihei Games. - Thank you so much for joining us today. Until next time, that's it for Brain Busters. www.able.co.nz Copyright Able 2020 Thank you, NZ On Air.
