Who has the mind power to make it all the way through the rounds and end up at this, the Brain Buster? brain busters, King Mikey fallacy at your service. I hope today's top two players are ready to go the distance, because no one will be leaving victorious. Who will it be? Stay tuned. - Kia ora, Mikey. And don't forget, you can play from home as well. So let's meet today's Brain Busters. Nau mai haere mai. Welcome to Brain Busters. Today, we have four players hoping I've got what it takes to be called the ultimate Brain Buster. We'll start with Mega Memory before we move into our specialist subject rounds where our players can choose from six other options. They'll hope to gain enough points to stay in this game and avoid elimination. So let's meet our players now. Firstly, Isobella. welcome to the show, Isobella. Our resident cook today as well. Absolutely love cooking. What got you into it? - I don't know. I just kind of- I used to always cook with my dad, and I really loved it. And then I just tried cooking by myself, and I loved it, and I just kept doing it. - Favourite thing to cook? - I like making gnocchi for my family, and I really like making ice cream. - Both very delicious indeed. Thanks for coming on to the show, Isobella. Theo, great to have you here as well. Right into our rugby. How is the season going? - Pretty good, but sadly got cancelled from COVID. - Ah! Unlucky there. But also want to be a pilot when you're older? - Yeah, I want to join the Air Force. - Nice, good way to do it as well. Great having you here, Theo. Julie, welcome to the show. Now you're right into gymnastics and tumbling ` so what's our coolest routine we can do? - I like to do a round-off and then some back handsprings with a straddle jump. - And I like to pretend I know what you mean when you say that, Julie. Thanks for coming on to the show. Harry, great to have you here as well reckon you can say our Brain Busters today? - Yeah. Really excited, yeah. - Confident? - Yeah, pretty much. Yeah. - Excellent. Great to hear. Great to have you all here, in fact. So let's get straight into our first round of the day ` it's Mega Memory. 10 points if our players buzz in and give me the correct answer, but, fail to do so, our players will lose 10 points. Ninety seconds on the clock. Good luck. Your time starts now. Which is nearer to Wellington, Lower Hutt or Jabba the Hutt? Theo. - Lower Hutt. - Which 'Kalvin' is a fashion brand? - Isobella. - Klein. - Which sport has the position of fullback, wing and` Harry. - Rugby. - What colour is an unwrapped minty? - Isobella. - White. - How many strings are on a Ukelele? Theo. - Five. - Four. Beginning with 'S', who makes phones that flip and fold? Theo. - Samsung. Rome is the capital of which country? Isobella. - Italy. - A traditional kiwi dip includes reduced cream and what flavour`? - Onion soup. In the traditional English legend, which beast was slayed by St George? Harry. - Uh, a lion? Dragon. Name the game show - 'The Crystal Ways' or 'The Crystal Maze'? Harry. - 'The Crystal Maze?' - In your mouth, what are canines and incisors? Harry. - Teeth. - Beginning with 'C', in which Olympic event to competitors kneel? Canoe Sprint. In Thomas and Friends, how many wheels does Thomas have? Theo. - Six. - Is the country Portugal in Europe or Asia? Harry. - Europe. - ...is the correct answer to finish off Mega Memory. Thank you so much for playing, everyone. Let's take a look at the leaderboard. We have a three way tie for the lead currently with Isobella, Theo and Harry all on 30 points. Then we have Julie on 0 points. So hoping to join them, if not, get well past them and playing first today for our specialists subject rounds ground is Julie. What would you like to play? - I'm playing Spellbinder. - Thank you, Julie. Let's play Spellbinder. Julie, please step forward. I'm surprised you didn't do a cool back handspring towards the front of the podium. That's OK. Maybe next time, Julie. - Yup. - For now, let's get into Spellbinder. Best of luck. Here comes your first word. 'Elastic.' The start we want. 'Savvy'. Well done. 'Pewter'. - Could you say that in a sentence please? - 'The jewellery was made of pewter.' That is correct. Spell 'cyclone.' Correct! 'Stylist'. Nicely done. Your next word is 'Constabulary'. Needed a 'U' before that 'L', sorry. And your final word, Julie, is 'Heavenly.' Great way to finish there, Julie. Nice work, some tricky words in there as well. But you've done a fantastic job. Thank you for taking on Spellbinder. - Thank you. - With an impressive start, Julie now has 120 points. Isobella is on 30 points, Theo has 30 points, and Harry also has 30 points. So as we currently have a draw for our three remaining players, we will simply go from left to right. So coming out to the front next is Isobella. What would you like to play? - Identifier. - Thank you, Isobella. Let's play Identifier. Isobella, please step forward. How we feeling, Isobella, how are the nerves? - Not that bad. - Not that bad. Get more nervous when you're cooking? - No. - Nah, not at all. All right, let's get into it, Isobella. Best of luck. - Great start. - Unfortunately just missing out again there, Isobella, sorry. - Not wasting any time with that one. - That would be why. Finally, Isobella... on a range, these elements by a atomic mess from heaviest to lightest. Do we know our -ioms and -oms? Have we got it right? Yeah, uranium first, then radon, and followed lastly by lithium. Unlucky, there, Isobella. Still, not a bad effort. Thank you so much for taking on Identifier. Julie still has first place with 120 points. Isobella has 70 points now. Theo is on 30 and Harry is also on 30 points. So two of our players have already completed their specialist subject round, but all four are wondering if they can head to the Brain Buster! - Here on the Brain Buster, one wrong move could lead to an early night for one of our final two players. So let's hope they're tuned in, because it's about to go down! - It sure is, Mikey. And don't forget, you can play from home as well. Just hop online to HEIHEI games. Don't go anywhere. We'll see you a muri i te whakata. * Nau mai, hoki mai. Welcome back to Brain Busters. Just before the break we had Julie and Isobella take on their Specialist Subject Rounds. And coming up to the front now is Theo. What would you like to play? - Blueprinter. Thanks, Theo. Let's play Blueprinter. Theo, please step forward. How's the memory, Theo? - Um, pretty good, hopefully. - Let's figure it out now. Best of luck. 30 seconds on the clock to have a look at what your Blueprinter is, and then you have 30 more seconds to put in your answers. Good luck. Here's your Blueprinter. Your time starts now. - Scottish clans have existed in the Highlands since ancient Celtic times and were firmly entrenched by the 13th century, with each clan being tied to particular areas. This means that those with Scottish ancestry are often able to trace their familiar roots back to certain places within Scotland. Ten seconds left, Theo. Time is up, there. You have 30 seconds to put in those answers, that time starts now. Half way, Theo. They've got it all locked in, happy, happy with them, Theo? - Hopefully, yes. - Let's take a look ` First one. McDonald is correct. That is your second one. Three in a row. Pringle makes a fourth. Kennedy gives you five. That's six. But couldn't quite get the seventh one! Unlucky. They are so close to a perfect score but still very, very well played. Thank you for taking on Blueprinter. - With that, Theo now has the lead, sitting on 150 points. Julie has 120 points. Isobella is on 70 points and Harry has 30 points. So, just one more player remaining to take on the specialist subject round. That player is, of course, Harry. And what would you like to play today, Harry? - I'd like to do Sequencer, thank you. - You absolutely can. Let's play Sequencer. Harry, please step forward. All the confidence in the world at the top of the show, Harry, what are we feeling now? Hopefully less pressure than over there. Don't have to press a button, but still a bit of pressure. - You're so right. Well, let's get into it now, Harry. Best of luck. Here comes your first sequence. Put these New Zealand cities in order of population from smallest to largest. Can we get off to the right start here? Unfortunately not. Nelson first, then Lower Hutt, and lastly, Hamilton. Arrange these computer programming languages from the earliest developed two most recent. How are we with programming here? - Not much of a clue, to be honest. Yeah, unfortunately missing out again. Basic first, JavaScript second, and then Scratch most recently in 2002? In which order were these films first released? Really want to get some points on the board here, Harry. - That will do it. Nicely done. Last one. In what order were these businesses established in New Zealand? Big sigh, Harry. - Yep. - Good sigh or a bad sigh? - A bad sigh. - Fingers crossed. Sorry, Harry, Hannahs first, then Four Square, finally Whitcoulls. But thank you so much for taking on Sequencer. Tricky stuff for Harry in Sequencer, said, but he's played well. So let's take a look now at the final leaderboard. Theo has 150 points. Julie has 120 points. Isobella is on 70 points, and Harry has 50 points. So unfortunately, we do need to eliminate our first player today on Brain Busters. And I'm sorry to say, Harry, it's got to be you. A $100 bank account is coming your way, though. What would you like to do with the money, Harry? - Well, other dogs. So I'll probably buy some gear for him, some leads and collars. - Oh, awesome! What kind of dog do you have, Harry? - A Labrador. - Oh, very cute indeed. Thanks for playing Harry. - I had a lot of fun. Thank you. Really good experience. - Good to hear, Harry. Cheers for is coming on the show. and congratulations to our three remaining players. For them, it's one step closer to the Brain Buster. - Three players left, two will race, but only one will go through to Amygdala to turn their points into dollars. - Kia ora for that, Mikey. And before we can head to the Brain Buster, we have our Brainteaser. Now, all of our players today have gone through their specialist subject rounds, and we are left with two options for our players to choose from. Today, those options are Equaliser and Reo Rangatira. So Isobella, Theo and Julie, please select which one you would like to play right now. Thank you, everyone, for voting. We will start with Isobella, who has chosen... Equaliser. Theo would like to play... Equaliser as well, and Julia selected... Equaliser, a unanimous vote. So let's get straight into it and play equaliser. Plenty of points to be won here, so let's get straight into our brainteaser edition of Equaliser. Good luck. Here is your first equation. Out of time sorry, Isobella. 16 was the answer. - Isobella. - 69. Quicker on that one. Well done. Finally for Equaliser... Isobella. - 24. - So close! 29 was the answer to our final equaliser. The thank you all for taking on the Brainteaser. Let's take a look at the scores. Theo has 150 points. Julie has 120 points, and Isobella has 40 points. So we now need to eliminate our second player today on Brain Busters. I'm sorry to say it is you, Isobella. You had to go for it, great job as well. Thank you so much for competing on Brian Busters. You do receive a $100 bank account. So what would you like to do with that money, Isobella? - I'm probably going to spend it. - I like your honesty, Isobella, and all the best for the cooking as well. Feel free to send some down to us any time. Thanks for coming on the show, Isobella. And congratulations to Theo and to Julie. For them, it's now on to the Brain Buster. The ultimate obstacle course where our top two players will battle it out to see who will be crowned as today's Brain Buster champion. - Stay right there. We'll find out very soon. * Welcome back to Brain Busters. We just have two players remaining as they get ready to take on the ultimate obstacle course. It's time for the Brain Buster. - I'm joined with our final two players, Theo and Julie, well done to you both for making it this far. Now, Theo, drumming is your thing, man. What got you into that? - I just wanted to bash some things and not break anything. - All good. And you're ready to bash the Brain Buster? - Yes. - Awesome. I hope you get that done, best of luck. And Julie, hockey is your sport. What got you into that? - It seemed really fun, and I really wanted to try it. - Nice, well, hopefully you're ready for the Brain Buster. Yeah. - Awesome. Best of luck to you both. It's now time to jump up onto our zip lines, and lets get ready to fly. Here we go. Three, two, one, fly! Flying across the Brain Stem zipline, Theo and Julie make it to the Brain Buster. Remember, the winner will get to combine both players' total points. So let's see who gets turn those points into dollars. Theo's found his way into the Corpus Callosum with his code, but Julie looks a little lost. That's good news for Theo! She's back on track and just in time for the Hippocampus. Theo still holds the lead, but should be weary of Julie, who has no time to waste Parietal lobe unlocked, and they both charge up super fast. The heat is on now. It's neck-and-neck as they fire through the tunnels. This jungle gym isn't the kind of Gym Julie is used to ` not the place to try a back hand-spring saddle jump, but she's on the move. Theo's done well to bash through the course without breaking anything. But the Frontal Lobe is usually the make or break. Who will be able to find the correct combination on the DNA molecule switches? No luck yet. Theo gets his first, he's free to climb down to the basal ganglia. Not so fast, Julie, your side hasn't activated yet! Theo was very lucky with the lights there after that massive catch up by Julie. Amazing stuff! Incredible job closing that gap after a few mishaps at the start, Julie. You were so close on that ladder. Great mahi from these two, Chris. - The race is complete! Theo, I'll get you to come across this way. Julie, started off with a bit of a mistake, then caught up, was like a monkey through all of that, racing everywhere, all over the obstacle course, but then just got a little bit stuck towards the end. What was going throughout your head throughout the course. - Um, nothing much, really. - Just trying to focus on what you had to do? Second place today, Julie. Congratulations. A $100 bank account is all yours, so what will you be doing with the money? - I'll probably be spending it on clothes. - (LAUGHS) Fair choice, Julie. Great having you here. Theo, congratulations, you have shown the Brain Buster who is boss. You were ahead at the start. Did you get scared when Julie started to catch up? - Yeah. but you've managed to take it on. Big smile on your face as well. Congratulations, Theo. For you, one thing left to do and that is taking on Amygdala. Theo, here we are at Amygdala. Still great to see you got that big smile on your face. Haven't managed to wipe it off just yet, obviously super stoked to be here. - Yes. - You've had a fantastic run, Theo. Great job. In fact, you scored 150 points. Julie scored 120 points. We combine those two and you had the chance to possibly take home $270. - Yup. - A lot of money, Theo. - Yeah. - How much can we win? - $270! - That's the attitude. Let's get into it now. Best of luck. My. Which is bigger, a table tennis ball or a tennis ball? - Tennis ball. - Sure is. At New Zealand fish and chip shops, chips are usually measured and sold in what unit? - Centimetres. - Scoops. That makes sense now? Yeah? - Yep. What country is the home of the Vindaloo Curry? - India. - Sure is. Something that definitely doesn't agree with my stomach! According to the movie's title, who goes into the Spiderverse? - Spider Man. - Spidey senses are tingling with that one. Well done, Theo. What are made by Sleepyhead? - Beds. - Sure about that one? - No. (LAUGHS) Of course it's beds. In curling, what is the name of the object shot to the other end of the sheet? - The puck? - Puck? Not puck, I'm afraid. Stone. In which ocean are the islands of Samoa? - The Pacific. - It's a very specific answer. Is it the Pacific? Correct. What kind of food are bockwurst and knockwurst? - Pasta. - Is that you're guessing smile that you've put on now, Theo? - Yes. - Sausage was the answer. Yeah, they're both German, along with bratwurst. Number nine. Which form of transport has a bow and stern? - A ship. - Do you think you know enough about boats? - Yeah. - This answer.? - Yes. - Well done, you got it right. Finally, Theo, for Amygdala. Is snowboarding an event at the Summer or Winter Olympics? - Winter. - Winter Olympics? - Yes. It'd be great to snowboard and Summer, but yes, you are definitely right, Theo, winter is correct. And there is Amygdala done and dusted. Well played, Theo. We'll take a look, and you've won $189. Really solid effort as well, Theo. What are you going to do with the money? - Maybe save some and maybe buy some food for my family. - Yeah, nice choice Theo. Good on you for coming on the show, man. Really appreciate it. $189! - Shot, Theo. Sure you're going to get a good rest tonight on your Sleepyhead, yeah? - Yes. - My man. If you think you can take out the Brain Buster just like our man Theo, jump online and head to HEIHEI games. - Thank you so much for joining us today. Until next time, that's it for Brain Busters.
