Close Up is Television New Zealand's nightly current affairs show, screening at 7pm week nights. Susan Wood is the host of Close Up. She is a hugely experienced current affairs journalist, with a 25-year career in print, radio and television. Mark Sainsbury acts as Susan's back-up. Mark has been a reporter with TVNZ since 1981 and has been TVNZ's political editor since 1999. He was appointed back-up Close Up presenter in late 2004. Close Up also has a dedicated team of experienced and award-winning field reporters in Connie Buchanan, Kris Fa'afoi, Mark Hannan, Hannah Hodson, Robyn Janes, Hadyn Jones, John Sellwood, Bryan Seymour, Ian Sinclair and Jendy Harper. These reporters cover stories from all over New Zealand while, in the studio, Susan Wood interviews the newsmakers of the day. With Close Up, it is the story that counts, not the individual presenter of the programme. The emphasis is on providing high-quality, reporter-driven, current affairs stories about New Zealanders and what matters to New Zealanders.
